Website care

Website care that keeps a site secure, working, fast, and true

Launch is a milestone, not an ending. A neglected site does not break on a Tuesday — it degrades quietly for two years and then fails at the worst possible moment, and the repair costs more than the upkeep would have. Care starts at hosting, from $50 a month.

What care covers

Four jobs, and the last one is the one people notice.

Most maintenance plans cover the first three and quietly skip the fourth, which is the one a customer actually experiences.

Secure

Core, themes, plugins, and dependencies kept current, because most compromises exploit known vulnerabilities in outdated versions rather than anything novel. Backups run on a schedule and get restored periodically — an untested backup is a belief, not a safeguard.

Working

The contact form is checked deliberately and often. A form that silently stops delivering is the most expensive failure a small business site can have, because there is no error and no missing page, just an inbox that gets quieter in a way that looks like a slow month.

Fast

Performance decays on its own as images and third-party scripts accumulate. Loading, responsiveness, and visual stability are measured rather than assumed, so a site that launched fast is still fast a year later.

True

The category most plans ignore and the one customers notice. Prices change, services get dropped, staff move on, holiday hours never change back. Nothing automated catches this; it needs somebody who knows the business to read the site and ask whether it is still accurate.

The base plan

What every care plan includes

This is the $50 a month end of the range: keeping the site up, current, backed up, and honest.

  • Managed hosting with SSL, monitoring, and a staging environment for changes
  • Platform, theme, plugin, and dependency updates applied and verified
  • Scheduled backups, stored off the server, with restores tested rather than assumed
  • Uptime and error monitoring, so a problem is noticed before a customer reports it
  • Contact form delivery checked on a schedule
  • Core Web Vitals checked periodically, with regressions investigated
  • Small content edits — hours, prices, staff, a service description

What stacks on top

Where the range goes up

Care and search work are one monthly arrangement here, but they are listed and reported separately so you can see what each is doing. Adding these is what moves a plan toward the $750 end.

  • Ongoing SEO: technical monitoring, content work, and search-visibility reporting
  • Analytics and conversion tracking configured, maintained, and actually read
  • Regular reporting in plain language, covering what changed and what it means
  • Larger content work: new service pages, articles, seasonal campaigns

The full range and what sits at each end is on the pricing page.

Honest expectations

What a care plan is not

  • Redesigns. Keeping a site secure, working, fast, and accurate does not restructure it or change what it says. Those are projects, quoted separately.
  • An implied retainer of "a few hours of changes a month" that quietly accumulates into a rebuild. Small edits are included; new pages and new sections are scoped as work.
  • SEO by default. Care and SEO are related but not the same activity, and bundling them without distinguishing them makes it impossible to tell what you are paying for.
  • A guarantee that nothing will ever break. Maintenance reduces how often things break and how long they stay broken. It does not make a website immune to a platform change, a third-party outage, or a provider tightening its rules.

Questions

What people ask about care plans.

How much does website maintenance cost per month?

Care starts at $50 a month, which covers hosting, updates, tested backups, uptime and form monitoring, and small content edits. It moves toward $750 as ongoing SEO, analytics, and regular reporting are added on top. Where a particular site lands depends on the platform, how much changes month to month, and how much search work is included — the pricing page shows this range next to what a build costs.

Do I have to take a care plan to have a site built?

No. It is optional and it is a separate scope you can end with notice. Plenty of businesses maintain their own site, and if you have someone who will keep it updated, that is a reasonable choice. The plan exists because "nobody does it" is the most common arrangement and the only one that is invisible until it is expensive.

Can you maintain a site Webbify did not build?

Usually, yes, after a review. Taking over an unfamiliar site starts with understanding what it runs on, what condition it is in, and what has been neglected. If the review turns up something that should be fixed before a maintenance plan makes sense, that gets said before you commit to anything monthly.

What is the difference between website care and ongoing SEO?

Care keeps the site secure, working, fast, and accurate. SEO works on whether it gets found. They overlap — a fast, working, current site is easier to rank than a slow, broken, outdated one — but they are different activities, and they are priced and reported separately so you can see what each is doing.

What happens if my site gets hacked?

Backups are the answer, which is why they are tested rather than assumed. A site on a care plan can be restored from a known-good copy, then the entry point is found and closed. Without recent, working backups, recovery is a rebuild. Nobody can promise a site will never be compromised; what is controllable is how quickly it comes back.

Are small content changes included?

Yes — hours, prices, staff, a service description, the ordinary things that go stale. What is not included is new pages, new sections, or design changes, because those are projects rather than upkeep and pretending otherwise is how monthly plans quietly become unprofitable and then get delivered badly.

Not sure what condition your site is in?

Load it on a phone, submit the contact form, and read the services page as if you had never seen it. If any of those is uncomfortable, that is a maintenance question rather than a redesign question. Webbify will tell you which one you have.
