Web design

Web design services that start with the business, not a template

Webbify designs websites around what a business sells, who buys it, and how those customers search. Architecture comes first, then the visual system, then the build. The result is a site with the right pages in the right order, designed to be found, understood, and maintained.

  • Site architecture
  • Mobile-first layouts
  • Accessibility
  • Performance

Strategy first

Good design answers a question the visitor already has.

Three principles decide how every design project is run, before any visual work begins.

The business decides the pages

What the business sells, who buys it, and how they search sets the page list. Design starts from that list, not from a template with slots to fill.

Architecture before visuals

The sitemap, the role of each page, and the links between them are settled before colors or type are discussed. Visual decisions are easier and better once the structure is right.

Designed to be maintained

A site the owner cannot update quietly goes stale. Layouts, components, and content structure are designed for the people who will live with them after launch.

What a design includes

The parts of a Webbify design that a template leaves out

These are decided during design, not discovered during the build or fixed after launch.

  • Site architecture: one page per customer intent, with internal links and navigation planned up front
  • Mobile-first layouts that are designed for the phone screen first and scaled up, not squeezed down
  • Accessibility to WCAG AA: contrast, keyboard navigation, visible focus, readable type, and real alt text
  • Performance as a design constraint: image sizing, font loading, and layout stability decided during design
  • Content structure: headings, page templates, and calls to action that answer the question the visitor arrived with
  • A visual system built from the brand rather than a theme: type, color, spacing, and components used consistently
  • Search considerations built in: titles, headings, metadata, and URL structure planned alongside the design
  • Handover documentation that explains how the pages are put together and how to change them

The approach

Business, then architecture, then the visual system, then the build.

The order is fixed because each stage depends on the one before it.

  1. Understand the business

Services, customers, competitors, and what the site has to do. Existing analytics and Search Console data where they exist.

  2. Plan the architecture

A written sitemap with the job of each page, the primary search intent it owns, and how pages link. Redirect mapping starts here if a site already exists.

  3. Design the system

Type, color, spacing, and components, then page layouts built from them. Reviewed on real devices, at real sizes, with real content rather than placeholder text.

  4. Build and launch

The design is built on the platform that fits, checked for accessibility and performance, and launched with search settings verified.

Rebuilding an existing site

Redesigns are their own job, with their own risks.

Most design projects start from a site that already exists and already has some search presence. Protecting that while improving the site is the redesign page's subject.

In practice

A luxury aesthetics practice that needed more than a nicer theme.

Lily Lane Aesthetics began as a Squarespace refresh. The architecture work showed that the practice needed a page for each service and a structure the platform could not support well, and the project grew into a custom WordPress redesign, service-page architecture, and SEO foundation.

Honest expectations

What design does and does not do

  • Design makes a site clearer and more credible. It does not by itself create demand or guarantee rankings, leads, or revenue.
  • A design is only as good as the content in it. If the content needs work, that is part of the project, not an afterthought.
  • Webbify is one person doing the strategy, design, and build. That means consistency and direct answers; it also means projects are scheduled, not started on demand.
  • No stock imagery, fake reviews, or invented statistics. If the business does not have the photos or proof yet, the design is planned around getting them.

Houston business?

The Houston web design page covers the same approach for the local market.

Webbify is a Houston-area studio. If you are comparing web designers in Houston, that page explains what changes when the market is local and links the Houston-area work.

Questions

What people ask before a design project.

What makes this different from a template or a page builder?

A template gives you a layout and asks you to fit the business into it. Webbify starts from the business and decides which pages exist, what each one has to say, and how customers reach them. The visual system comes after that. The result can still be built on WordPress or Squarespace; the difference is the thinking before the build.

Do you design and build, or just design?

Both, by the same person. Design and development are planned together so that decisions about performance, accessibility, and search are made once, during design, rather than renegotiated during the build.

Which platform will my site be on?

Whichever fits: WordPress, Squarespace, or custom code in Astro or Next.js. The choice depends on content volume, who edits the site, integrations, and maintenance. The recommendation is written down with the reasoning.

Will my existing rankings survive a redesign?

Redesigns lose rankings when URLs change without redirects, content gets thinner, or indexing settings are wrong at launch. The website redesign page explains how each of those is handled. Nothing is guaranteed, but the risks are known and planned for.

Do you work with businesses outside Houston?

Yes. Webbify is Houston-area based and works with select clients elsewhere. Design work happens remotely by default, with reviews by video call, so location matters less than clear communication.

Tell us what the site needs to do. The design follows from that.

Every project is scoped around the business, website, content, technical requirements, and long-term goals. After an initial conversation and review, Webbify recommends an approach and provides a clear proposal.
